Story time for Grown-ups at the Coffee Connection

Do you have a story or an experience that you would like to share?  Does a fond memory bring a chuckle or a tear every time it comes to mind? Our stories and memories are what glue us together as families, neighborhoods, and even whole societies. You may not consider yourself a writer or even a storyteller, but you may have interesting recollections to share.

Drop by the Coffee Connection at the senior center on Thursday mornings from 9:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. for “Coffee on Memory Lane.” Here you are invited to share memories or discuss topics of interest with Peg Mossman as she continues writing her collection of senior memories to be included in a book.  If you don’t already know Peg, she’s the one with a cup of coffee and a computer.  She would love to listen to what you have to say.  You can do the talking, and she will do the writing.

In addition, “Tale Spinners” meets every Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. In this group, you will have an opportunity to share and write about memories and reflections.   We encourage you to come and listen to our “creations” even if you don’t write.

LET’S TALK ABOUT IT

“I’m sorry, I didn’t know”, these words are often used to express surprise regarding an event; sometimes pleasant, sometimes unpleasant, an event that happened without your knowledge, an event you should have known about.

Words are a human concoction, conceived in order to transfer information from one or more individuals to another or a group.  At 1:00 p.m. each Tuesday a small group meets at the Foxboro Senior Center to discuss various topics.

This Discussion Group, I am told existed long before the Senior Center.  It functions in a very informal way.  The topics are not usually planned.  Individuals are not required to join the discussion at hand nor are they assigned topics.  Personal interest will encourage participation.

This writer has experienced more than eighty years of life.  I would have to be a stone not to have formed opinions regarding the world around me.  So it is with all of us more or less.  Sharing my opinion regarding politics, religion and all the various institutions that direct our society keeps me going.  But I find listening to the opinions of others is much more rewarding.  I guess I’d rather learn than teach.  The reason for this letter is to request you, the reader, to join us at the Foxboro Senior Center any Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.  Please join us.  All are welcome!
